We created our science videos and resources after recognising as teachers that vocabulary was a major stumbling block for many of our students. We invested a lot of time (and money!) into making the animations look cool as well as being effective liftlessons.co/science-home

The only good thing about that big number is that there is room for improvement. I hope you get a good attendance at your webinar

Nearly 75% of teachers know very little or nothing at all about Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). With #2in30 children affected by DLD, it's vital that they're identified, supported and understood.

This little video gives a quick breakdown of DLD, and the areas of language that may be involved.
It's a bit quick for me, and so I needed to pause it to read it. Is that an age thing?

Strategies for reading in secondary.
Reading for enjoyment.
Need to keep motivation for decoding, think of games as well as morphology.
And for those with language needs, focus on language such as narrative and vocabulary.

Reading is based on language.
Language predicts letter knowledge and phonological awareness which in turn predict decoding skills. Language is the foundation of phonics.
Language also impacts directly on reading comprehension.

In our experience most teachers have not heard of DLD, but on average it affects 2 children in every class of 30.
It may be the reason why lots of students are not progressing.
Join this free webinar if you can.
Staff meeting may be?

We need every teacher to know about DLD, so please share this link with everyone who works in schools.

Around 1 in 4 children in Scotland are living in poverty.

Poverty remains far too high, and people are feeling overlooked and ignored by politicians.

The next Scottish Parliament is an opportunity to build a better future for all children in Scotland. 🔽 1/4

Speech and language support shouldn't be a postcode lottery📍

The 2M chikdren with speech and language challenges can't afford to wait for support that should be there in the first place.

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) affects 2 in 30 children, yet many have never heard of it. Because you can’t see DLD, it’s often missed, and support is lost.

We’re running a free webinar for educators ahead of #DLD Day.

Life can be hard for many people with DLD (Developmental Language Disorder). Other people can treat them badly, and when they try and explain their needs, others react with blank faces. We need way more awareness of DLD! #DLDday #DevLangDis @radld.bsky.social
