And I do get your point about not provoking people - but I'm not willing to ignore science and the lived experience of other human beings to avoid provoking people. Especially on this issue, where the provocateurs are so clearly operating in bad faith.

And if they go on about biology, ask how they propose to pay for the genetic and hormonal testing required to determine gender? What we learned in grade school is not a full picture by far.
lisameece.bsky.social
And if they go on about unfairness, perhaps question how fair it was for the little boys who competed against, say, Michael Phelps in school sports?
lisameece.bsky.social
Or perhaps "trans girls are girls. Why shouldn't girls be allowed to play girls sports?"

Just because a truth is unpopular does not make it less true.

One of the important components of fighting authoritarianism is the courage to say things some people won't like. I'm working on my bravery here, putting out ideas that I've thought about a long time but used imposter syndrome as an excuse to keep to myself. But not today.

A certain political figure is visiting my city tomorrow, so I made pins for people to wear celebrating the occasion.

Do you think he'll like them???

A friend is traveling to a US city where they expect to run into military on the streets, and pondered what they could have in a pocket to hand out, so I put these together.

If they seem useful, please feel free to use them.

Living in some 35-year-old loser’s Call of Duty fantasy cosplay is bad, actually.

We would like to thank Kristi Noem for bringing cameras with her everywhere and collecting evidence for her future trial at The Hague.

It's why we're called Cassandras, I know, but there's something violent about being treated as mentally fragile for observing objective reality, because that makes people who are in denial feel safer and more in control.

Been here since 2020, but WHEW it's irritating everytime.

Robber Barons is good - but I feel like we can modernize it a bit...

Cyber barons? Virtual robbers? Imaginary barons, real robbery?

Let's make that real!

The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session.

Want to know why?

Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out.

Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

I sometimes tell people my life is weird - this morning feels like a good illustration for what I mean by that. I'm getting measurements of how big of my friend the AI expert's head is so that I can 3d print a Monty Python helmet for him to take to Theology Beer Camp in a couple of weeks.

Say what you will about Pete Hegseth's speech before the Flag Officers at the Pentagon...

...But I, for one, found it a resource I will continue to mine when writing up crazy-pants oligarchs, dictators, nobles and the Odd IlKhan for the foreseeable future in the BattleTech universe.

And now for today's good news ... a wonderful librarian now has a full time job getting people excited about books. All kinds of books. Even the diverse ones that the government doesn't want you to read.

OMG! Mychal did it. Anyone who first caught this wonderful human gaining an audience on TikTok knew there was something special happening. What an incredible journey and story. Promoting reading and libraries is so damn important right now, and I can't think of a better ambassador.

We Should Have Finished Reconstruction: A Brief History Of American Politics, 1865-2025

yeah, this is hegseth straightforwardly announcing that it is free play time for bigots in the ranks. and together with his comments on standards, he clearly wants to purge as many women, black and brown people as he can from the armed services. a white man's military.
atrupar.com
Hegseth: "We are overhauling an inspector general process that has been weaponized, putting complainers and poor performers in the driver seat. We are doing the same with the equal opportunity policies. No more frivolous complaints, no more anonymous complains ... no more walking on eggshells."
