After I got fired by DOGE, I wanted to respond to this climate of fear. So I started working at SecureDrop, making software for whistleblowers to communicate with journalists.

Our response to all this is to expand who can run and use our software, while safeguarding whistleblowers' anonymity.
Looking back at 2025
Journalists are working harder than ever to protect their sources. SecureDrop has never been more important

Ut oh. DOJ posted a bunch of deliberative files on 2019 prosecutorial decisions, then took it all down.

I guess Todd Blanche feels like he has to directly compete with Bari Weiss for stupidity?

Absolutely right.

AI might be able to summarize (poorly) what we currently know, but a major goal of historical research is to find the hidden surprises out there.

Let me illustrate …
Not a historian but like to research. The AI might summarize what I'm looking for, but it doesn't find what I'm *not* looking for. The book on the shelf next to the one I wanted. The insight in chapter 6 based on the quote I needed from chapter 4.

My coauthor @cdelawalla.bsky.social asks NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya whether, as he seems to have previously asserted, the polio vaccine is worse than the disease.

Needless to say, he weasels and doesn't answer the question.
We gave Jay Bhattacharya an opportunity to clarify his vaccine stance: does he REALLY believe that the vaccine is worse than the disease? Instead, he launched into a defense of MAHA as the future of scientific inquiry, and never really gave us a straight answer...

They're counting on you to lose track, to be too overwhelmed to remember the gravity of what they're doing.

But we're keeping track of every single strike.

So far: 22 strikes. 87 killed.

Good piece about some very bad editorials, which I find more depressing than enraging. They have no apparent audience (besides Bezos) and lack basic fluency in the legal concepts they discuss. Both asinine and utterly pointless. Can someone who understands the law at least write them?
It is hard to overstate how shallow and embarrassing the Washington Post Editorial Board's analysis is whenver it tries to write about the law. They don't make arguments so much as they crank out half-assed jumbles of buzzwords that they hope will make Jeff Bezos happy. Don't care for it at all!
The Washington Post Editorial Board Is Spectacularly Awful at Legal Analysis
Since Bezos overhauled the board earlier this year, it has been very good at cranking out billionaire-friendly propaganda. It is quite bad at everything else.
