You can’t expect aesthetics where there’s no ethics. Pei’s building is both witness and memory.

Saul Zabar has passed away. He leaves behind more than Zabar’s: he leaves the conviction that immigrants enrich a community, filling it with the flavors of their origins and transforming the culinary culture by making different tastes dialogue with one another.

It’s the same feeling as when we grew up learning that Pluto was a planet… and then? And then they took it away from us!

Does the news reflect what we die from?
The image presents a comparison of the leading causes of death in the United States for 2023 and the media coverage these causes receive from three news outlets: The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Fox News.

In the footer, it notes the data sources, indicating that the information is based on media mentions from Media Cloud (2025) and death data from the US CDC (2025) and the Global Terrorism Index, with a clarification that values are normalized to sum to 100%.

😂, having dogs is full of surprises. I’ll need to replace my ID, cards, and two notes -they’re broken and missing pieces- but I’m hoping the bank can sort it since the serial numbers are still visible. Honestly, everything can be replaced, and the joy they bring far outweighs these mishaps.

(Thread)

Uh? You should be putting on a face mask so if they call you in the middle of the night, your face stays fresh.

Dalí was Catalan down to his DNA his family tree reads like a roll call of Catalan surnames, “8 apellidos catalanes” No judging, no hard feelings, I’m just the northern remix: Eight Nuevo León Surnames.

Alex Ross’s piece in The New Yorker stays with you: Dudamel’s fire, art as resistance, and the uneasy politics surrounding it all. In 2025, music still mirrors the world…and sometimes, defies it.
newyorker.com
Gustavo Dudamel, who officially begins his tenure as the New York Philharmonic’s music director next season but is already effectively in charge, has never been a brazenly political artist, yet politics has a way of catching up to him, Alex Ross writes.
A Season of Rage at the Philharmonic and the Met
Gustavo Dudamel conducts John Corigliano’s blistering First Symphony, and Chuck Schumer faces a hostile crowd at the opening night of “Kavalier & Clay,” Alex Ross writes.

In Spanish, that would be “a la come y come.”

My heritage word this time is “adió”meaning goodbye or, surprise, like “oh my goodness!” A Ladino word alive in Nuevo León Spanish, spoken by my parents and grandmothers.

I dare say, and probably not just for myself: a lot of us would want to see that lab post announcing: “Bagel a Day, Season 2.”
Until then... "no, pues" boo ( el 👻boo y el 🇲🇽Spanish)

Brunkow got the news of her prize from a photographer.

She said she had ignored the earlier call from the Nobel committee. “My phone rang and I saw a number from Sweden and thought: ‘That’s just, that’s spam of some sort.’”

Husband: “When I told Mary she won, she said, ‘don’t be ridiculous'."

Hey! For those who behaved, it’s time for bed, so the Nobel can bring you a prize tomorrow.

As a kid, I couldn’t understand why my sister loved someone who died before I was born. She played his songs nonstop. It felt like torture, until I knew all the lyrics and ended up loving them too. Same with liver: enough exposure, and I grew to like it.
