Last night, my team filed a motion to defend voters in California.

DOJ sued 8 states. My firm has filed to protect voters in all 8 states.

We will never back down from the fight to protect free and fair elections.

DOJ has sued 8 states for refusing to turn over their full, unreacted voter files.

My team has now filed motions to defend voters in 7 of those cases in ME, MI, MN, NH, NY, OR and PA.

I suggest that DOJ monitor the docket in the remaining one in CA.

Twitter is an angry place; Bluesky is romantically moody.

Thank you, I can’t believe we’re playing the “well you can still post whatever you want on social media” game - which by the way have you seen TikTok lately? Give me a break Tom

Nobody has time to sit and debate semantics when the point is, this administration is acting fascist. There are several parallels to 1933 Germany. Again, you’re blunting the severity of the situation when you start squabbling about can and can’t be called fascist.
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
No. That’s stupid af. I’m going to call something fascist if it looks akin to 1933 Germany, in which there are many parallels between that and this administration. Calling it for what it is doesn’t mean people accept it or won’t oppose it.
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
This is such a dumb argument. The admiration is acting fascist. Idk where the line is when you finally determine a regime is fascist. But this fight over semantics is distracting from the point
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
Yeah, but he’s just distracting from the point of the original thread

I guess but a lot of people get their news outside of tv/cable news networks

Everyone is trying to have a normal Saturday night and the president's top advisor is on X announcing that civil war is necessary
@StephenM on X: Legal insurrection. The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.

Calling it out ≠ accepting it and/or giving up
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
I read recently his approval is at 47% or something like that - too high imo
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
What’s your end goal by fighting about the semantics of fascism though? Feels like you’re just trying to downplay the severity of the situation we’re in, which is quite irksome
lkpolicynerd.bsky.social
I’m still sitting here flabbergasted the administration’s approval rating is as high as it is… per the polls

I have been riding the DC metro, alone, since I was in middle school, and brought my children on it when they were even younger

"My daughter could actually ride the Metro for the first time since she has been in DC."

People think they’re taking down a rich intellectual sinecure but they’re mostly terrorizing committed public servants who make $58,000 a year after 15 years of experience at a school that has to budget creatively so students can access textbooks.

This new column by @tressiemcphd.bsky.social makes me think about when I recently had to talk to the police for yet another safety plan, I tried to “lighten” the mood by saying that we all knew this wasn’t my first rodeo. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/01/o...
For at least the past 15 years, my colleagues in academia have grappled with angry letters to university officials for doing their jobs. They have weathered campaigns for their firing. They have contended with an internet army obsessed with doxxing them, their parents, their kids. I’ve been contacted by the F.B.I. more than once in my career. Not because I hold any important state secrets or know a biker gang but because one of my colleagues has lived with so much sustained harassment from right-wing “activists” that it has become a matter of federal concern. Watch lists (one of which was constructed by Kirk’s organization) do not distinguish between public intellectuals at wealthy enclaves and hoi polloi who teach popular classes at cash-strapped schools. In either case, an army of trained provocateurs stands ready to destroy their lives to prove their bona fides as conservative activists.

He's telling generals that he's declaring war on American cities and that they will be expected to support his illegal campaign. This is the worst thing Trump has done as president.

Candace Owens seems to have evidence...

This article was in such bad faith I can’t believe it. Failed to mention J6, categorized Mangione as a leftist with zero evidence to support it, and how can you write right wing extremism has plummeted when the state is just doing the right’s bidding through “legal means” — real trash piece

Your health care bill is about to explode.

The notices will start arriving next month.

A $7,000 bill could jump to $24,000.

Democrats are fighting to stop this. Republicans are fighting to guarantee your costs go up.

We need to fix this. Now.

Literally the authoritarian playbook:
1. Call your opponents terrorists.
2. Deploy state power against them.

There's nothing subtle or confusing or complex about what's happening. The *outcome* is uncertain but the authoritarianism is right out in the open.
