It’s not even 10 a.m., and so much has unfolded in Chicago:

– Illinois sues Trump over the National Guard deployment

– Mayor Brandon Johnson bans city property use for immigration enforcement

– Journalists and protesters sue the feds over Broadview violence

Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

You can see how their cameramen document their violence. This is about content creation. For the last one, I had to search my files for a photo of this moment that didn't include the face of a pained or screaming protester, but for clarity: those are tackled human beings on the ground.
DHS cameramen film their approach. DHS cameramen film their leader. DHS cameramen film their assault on tackled protesters.

A story of Trump's America in two acts.

Text from post by @sarahlazare.bsky.social reaeds "I have permission to share this video of @emanabdehhadi being detained in a Cook County Sheriff van, hands cuffed behind her back, at Broadview ICE detention center. She hasn't been read her rights, she just told me."

Struck by the synchronicity of our timeline: 1/2 posts about Wrongful Conviction Day, 1/2 posts about ICE raids and arrests. It's all the same issue at its core: the persecution of innocents; the blatant abuse of power by the state; the clear and willful violation of individual civil rights.

My god.

“Watson said she saw agents dragging residents, including kids, out of the building without any clothes on and into U-Haul vans. Kids were separated from their mothers…’It was heartbreaking to watch…seeing kids coming out buck naked and taken from their mothers, it was horrible.’”

“It’s hard to describe how strange it was and how clearly eager they were to enact violence on everybody there.”

I just posted the video here that shows everyone saying "We can't hear you." We were standing a few feet away, and couldn't hear a thing they said.

Here (in 2 videos) are the moments leading up to the tear gas assault, and the immediate aftermath. (What is doesn't show is that right before the agents decided to mass at the gate, open it, mumble incoherently, and attack, everyone was really just standing around totally peacefully.) 1/2
