Oliver Twist, what a shame. Put himself out there in front of everyone. And for what? Some gruel? A man must live on his feet. I would gladly kill or die for gruel but I would never let it drive me.

The genocide in Gaza is in going, the newspapers have stopped talking about it - they don’t even bother cheering on Israel - and the universities play cops.
EXCLUSIVE: Thousands of documents obtained from the Yale Police Department show how the campus police closely surveilled pro-Palestine protestors, in collaboration with the FBI and counterterrorism forces.

People sometimes make fun of science that sounds stupid and random.

Meanwhile, a study of lizard saliva turned into a peptide medication, which was turned into a diabetes medication, which was turned into a GLP1 weight loss drug, that just became the first therapy every approved for … sleep apnea
Breaking News: The FDA approved use of the weight loss drug Zepbound for a common form of sleep apnea. It is the first drug authorized to treat the disorder.

The tech bro fascination with eugenics is so on brand. The idea that you could make accurate, actionable predictions from individual genotypes (with all their complex, non-linear interactions) from averaged, linearly modeled population-level genomic statistics is just another big data fantasy

Maybe folks haven’t figured out how to organize with an analysis that does both but there’s no getting around the fact that a new story about how identity difference & class solidarity are inextricably & beneficially linked has got to become common sense.

This is an astonishing statistic, which most people don’t appreciate.

When we phase out fossil fuels, we can eliminate 40% of international shipping along with it.
40% of the mass of everything transported by a ship in 2023 was a fossil fuel.

That stat paired with this new study shines a pretty harsh spotlight on how obscenely bad-faith the right-wing concern trolling around offshore wind + whales is

UW study finds leading cause of whale deaths
New research shows that the top threat to whales around the globe has changed. But it wouldn't take much to reduce the risk, researchers say.

The fact that they're simultaneously asking for new permits and getting fined for three years of recently uncovered law-breaking is a joke. Get em out of here.
