basically every 2024 truism is dead. Trump did not build a lasting multiracial coalition or turn young men into committed Republicans. You don’t need to cave on trans rights to win. The pundits have nothing left to tell you.

many are saying it's the least drooping right side of a face ever. I'm not saying it, they're saying it, even the fake news says it to me. sir, at least just droop a little, we're all drooping over here. but I can't do it. I can't do it. I just don't have a drooping, melting right side of my face

While closing social securities offices! Which is where disability determinations come from, if you have a couple years to wait for them to process your application.
Republicans keep saying the “genuinely disabled” don’t have to worry about losing Medicaid.

All disabilities are genuine.

You also need healthcare to get a diagnosis. To get the paperwork done. To “prove it”.

They’re ensuring people get trapped in red tape loopholes so they can’t get care.

It can take like four years or more to get a disability determination from social security and that whole time most people go without any income. But somehow people under 60 without a disability determination should prove they’re trying to work.
Hinson on Medicaid benefits: "They shouldn't be going to a 29-year-old guy who's living in his mom's basement choosing not to work."

Unfortunately my republican rep is a coward but I called his DC office anyway and talked to a human being, shared my concerns for clients I have through work, HIS CONSTITUENTS, and stressed the importance of voting no on this bill. Maybe that was pointless but it’s important to DO IT ANYWAY.
There's still time to stop this dangerous bill.

Call your GOP representative and tell them to vote NO on Trump's Tax Scam: indivisible.org/reso...

I’m going to be very honest and clear.

I am fully preparing myself to die under this new American regime. That’s not to say that it’s the end of the world. It isn’t. But I am almost 50 years old. It will take so long to do anything with this mess that this is the new normal for *me*.

I appreciate Democrats specifically talking about the disabled as well as their caregivers. So many of the Medicaid-funded programs my agency provides are designed to not just support disabled individuals, but also to provide respite and/or reimbursement to caregivers.
Jeffries specifically calling out CA-22's nation-leading percentage of Medicaid recipients and David Valadao right now, sharing the story of an adult caregiver for a disabled child
Valadao votes yes.

As our own @ericmgarcia.bsky.social reminds us, *60%* of Valadao's constituents are on Medicaid.

Valadao, BTW, also voted for Trump's impeachment post January 6th.

I help people access these kinds of benefits at work. I’ve never met someone who doesn’t need Medicaid but is applying for it. The eligibility criteria are already fucking stringent. Fuck the billionaire class forever.
Heartbreaking testimony from a mom, Pam Berek, whose son, Carlson, lives with different medical conditions (cerebral palsy, catastrophic drug-resistant epilepsy and autism). He has several doctors, specialists and an electric wheelchair to give him mobility. Carlson needs care 24h/day..

people come up with all kinds of fanciful math to justify billionaires' wealth but imo present political moment demonstrates conclusively that we need to tax billionaires at whatever rate will keep them focused on their own fucking business rather than our Medicaid and pediatric cancer research

my wife (and her entire team) were fired from her nonproifit Seattle-area hospital two months ago because the Trump administration froze medicaid reimbursements, driving the hospital toward financial ruin

this will finish the job.

a lot of people are going to die. it's not going to be subtle
Spoke with someone who works with a public hospital system. His assessment of the effects of the GOP spending bill: “I think this is going to be a very apparent catastrophe, very quickly.”

I also think it should be mentioned that bikes get urban planned onto sidewalks because the streets aren’t safe
What's funny about posts like this is that we have lots of data showing cars are responsible for like 98% of pedestrian deaths. So let's not "both sides" this, okay?
in Boston it's true of both cars and bikers.
and as a pedestrian I don't want to get hit by either, but so far that score is 4 to bikes and only 2 to cars. bikers here love running into my leashed dogs on the sidewalks.
