Abstract As the planet warms, new authoritarian movements in the West are embracing a toxic combination of climate denial, racism and misogyny. Rather than consider these resentments separately, this article interrogates their relationship through the concept of petro-masculinity,
which appreciates the historic role of fossil fuel systems in buttressing white patriarchal rule. Petro-masculinity is helpful to understanding how the anxieties aroused by the Anthropocene can augment desires for authoritarianism. The concept of petro-masculinity suggests that fossil fuels mean more than profit; fossil fuels also contribute to making identities, which poses risks for post-carbon energy politics. Moreover, through a psycho-political reading of authoritarianism, I show how fossil fuel use can function as a violent compensatory practice in reaction to gender
and climate trouble.

However, there is a crucial limitation to transparent, rule-based procedures: They can only work if there is a minimum consensus on the value of rules which everyone must adhere to - also the rich and privileged. Currently, rising fascist regimes aim to dismantle such a consensus.

In view of the recent dismissals of university staff commenting on Kirk Christie, it becomes all the more apparent that we need transparent, rule-based procedures in organizations that handle such exclusion decisions, and work independently from conventional organizational hierarchies.

Clemson students called on their professors to be fired for political speech they didn't like. The legislature threatened to defund the university if it didn't comply. The professors were fired.

I encourage people to watch this video. The selected footage shows the professor doing nothing even slightly out of line, whereas the student misinterprets the law and hopes to impose her religious beliefs on the material.

Update: The President of Texas A&M, the largest public university in the US, removed the Dean of the College and Chair of the English Dept just hours after coming under right-wing political pressure because a student recorded herself interrupting a lecture’s class that included topics on gender.

My key points:

1) It's pointless to talk about "sustainable" meat&dairy without talking about much, much less meat&dairy
2) Livestock integrated into regenerative farming & crop rotations (or off nature reserves) yields very little meat. It's not a sustainable food strategy if we all starve!

Quasi kleine semantische Mikro-Sezessionen, nur zwischen dir und der LLM, wo dir niemand blöd kommt, wo niemand wirklich "nein" sagt und "das ist Bullshit" und wo du dich in den unendlichen Pfadgelegenheiten des Latent Space verlieren kannst.

Dabei kann sich dann, wie René schreibt, ein "reinforcing loop of semiotic self-radicalization" vollziehen, in dem dich die eigenen Begierden, Ängste, Phantasien und heimlich gehegten Verschwörungstheorien in die weirdesten Ecken der Trainingsdaten führen können, die zufällig auch das Geschreibsel aller Psychopathen der Menschheitsgeschichte enthalten.
