It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

seattle (+ greater seattle area) should prepare to protect our somali community too. we have about 30,000 folks from there and you know they're chomping at the bit to punish us for being so against him

$405/500
Alright so I haven’t gotten paid for two months and haven’t lined up anymore work.

Really need more help, and I hate to ask for it.

I was supposed to be making $1200 a month by now but due to trump defunding my job I’m making nothing.

Goal is $500.

“We are more than stories. We are land. We are family. We are community. And we deserve a future where our identities are not commodities, where our truths are not distorted for profit or prestige and where accountability is measured not by words but by actions that build trust and repair harm.“

When I emailed Wilson’s office with my concerns in October, they responded with boilerplate talking points that suggested I was wrong to question how they are failing to provide the services people actually need and want.

These shelters are not providing adequate food, disrespecting trans folks, failing to treat residents in need, and potentially erecting more barriers to finding housing.
yup. “breakfast” at the womens shelter is often dry cereal with no milk (i can remember only once when they had canned evaporated milk to go with it but usually there is not even that), granola bars and oatmeal packets. they’ve only ever had salad at dinner one time when a county health bus visited.

the shelters aren’t about helping people. it’s a real estate scheme. they’re building more shelters because someone is getting paid for it and that person probably helped to fund keith wilson’s mayoral campaign.

if you go to a crowded holiday market where no one is masked and you don’t bother to mask either and then you get covid i don’t know how you can be surprised. it’s a no-brainer. i swear folk’s cognitive dissonance has only increased a 1,000–fold since 2020. it’s not over and you‘re not special.

Mayor Wilson came into office with a pledge to end street sleeping by Dec. 1. Today, thousands still live outside.

Join this event next Monday to join with other Portland workers to make Oregon's energy future safer together.
The CEI Hub, a six mile stretch of fuel storage tanks between the Willamette River and Forest Park stores 90% of Oregon's liquid fuels.

Everyone who works in or near this geography is at risk of the impacts of a world-historic industrial disaster.

We, as workers, can prevent this future.

he said that he would revoke Zenith's LUCS if malfeasance were shown... DEQ showed him malfeasance in the form of a huge fine for illegally using infrastructure and then the mayor just approved a new LUCS to legitimize it lol.

I wanted to give Wilson the benefit of the doubt, but he screwed us over on Zenith a little over a month in office after saying the exact opposite thing at a 350 PDX mayoral candidate forum

On the one hand, Mayor Wilson didn't meet his goal of ending unsheltered homelessness by Dec. 1...

but on the other he did approve an unpopular Land Use Compatibility Statement for Zenith Energy.

i think the post may have been taken down but i am still going to the talk tomorrow whether folks like it or not. it’s not about me or my ego. i don’t care if folks don’t like me or don’t want me there. i don’t care if folks from the studio show up or if they don’t. i admire Sacco’s work immensely.
