This is how it has been for me in magic
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:

Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Make. Friends.
Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

My pal is having their biggest sale of the year and helping them out helps me as we work on comics together! Go check it out!
Was at my computer tonight so fuck it: BIGGEST SALE EVER STARTS NOW. Almost all items on sale; I'm looking to clean house (especially of my older merch) and to get some bigger books moved (like Mini-Dom) before novels start happening.

GO GO GO!

I do translation as well as write; it is absolutely creative work, and a huge responsibility to the author. Language and expression matter; translation is not just to transfer meaning, especially since meaning IS language-dependent
As a multiple language speaker it's also frustrating to see people using AI for translation because the English speaking world tends to treat translators like workers for hire instead of co authors of text and this feels like more of it. Translation at the literary level is creative work.

No matter what your approach is regarding the Firefox browser AI news stuff, whether it is to move to a different fork or continue to manually disable those features with each update or find a Chromium fork that doesn't track your shit or whatever, my only recommendation is don't use Brave.

this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

It's time for the "How to do ALT text" image again.

Writing a perfect ALT text is impossible, but please try 💚!

Visually impairment is a wide spectrum and doesn't keep people from loving the visual arts.

Amazing to see steam not listening to these AI bros
Valve artist Ayi Sanchez made a great statement concerning "Made With AI" to be removed from Steam.

"(...) Consumers should have the information to decide if they want to buy something (...) depending on its content. The only ppl afraid of this are the ones that know their product is low effort."

Yolo often stands with his little back toes crossed, which I find ridiculously cute!
You can see vultures don't have bulky feet and talons built for grasping/carrying like other raptors. Their more chicken-like feet are meant for bracing on food to pull at it with their powerful beaks, instead.

Showing ID online isn't the same as showing it to a human offline.

Each time we provide our official ID or face scan online, this data risks getting leaked, stolen, or accessed by corporations and governments alike, to track our online activities and attach it to our identities.

AI generated content of any kind undermines the credibility of whatever is being communicated
I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.
