I spent this week rewatching a lot of All in the Family for work. It's not Rob Reiner's primary legacy, but it was one of the greatest quartets in TV history, and he was essential in the least rewarding role. He has a scene with Jean Stapleton in S8 that moved me to tears. Where I'll be for a while.

What can I say? It’s devastating news both that it happened and how it happened. Rob Reiner put good into the universe and cared deeply about humanity and decency. Our world is a little lonelier tonight. My condolences to his family, his close friends like Albert Brooks, and his poor Uncle Mel.

We asked prominent people in the sport whether Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame. The answers were as conflicted as you would expect.

A (quite) young movie lover said to me recently, "Not everybody can afford a DVD player," and I said "How much do you think a DVD player costs?"

He said, "I don't know, like $500?"

Those of us who advocate physical media are maybe not doing the best job of messaging.

MY biggest shock on the #XPNCountdown was the performance of Deep Purple's "Hush." I kind of knew it was a cover, but whenever I think of that song at all Jon Lord's Hammond C-3 floods my mind and obliterates all thought. So seeing it fall well below the just-OK Kula Shaker version disappoints.

I'm not being an alarmist but I just came down with something that made COVID feel like a walk in the park, and many in my community have been in urgent care for similar symptoms

Anyway, since you're not going to hear it from our government, you may as well hear it from me.

I've been saying this for a year now: the Democrats have missed a gigantic political opportunity--and, at this point, have failed in an ethical obligation--to create a shadow-government health department that dispenses medically accurate information, guidance, and advice.

Dreading the World Cup draw; certainly not going to watch it. I imagine that for a lot of sports fans from other countries this will be the most concentrated dose of TV Movie Caligula they've ever received. So America's not going to come off well here.

I needed this primer. My eyes glaze when people complain about the Igs. I'm lucky: the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl, and then doing it again, pretty much extinguished my NFL related angst. So perhaps I shouldn't judge. Still, they won. This year. share.inquirer.com/KL0vtS?utm_s...

It might seem like everyone in the Greater Philadelphia area has a firm grasp of all the problems plaguing the Eagles. But not everyone is paying close attention to the Eagles. Here's the skinny.
