If you are a Democrat and you don't think that Gregory Bovino has repeatedly proven himself unfit for a government job long before a tweet this week, you should step aside and let someone do the job who can do the job.
Call me crazy, but I don't think the question of whether or not Bovino belongs in his job depends on whether or not he deletes the tweet he made calling protesters "cannon fodder." Making the tweet (along with many other things he's done) should disqualify him from any law enforcement job ever.

I *think* that appealing to the basic decency of most Americans in the aftermath of Renee Good's murder is smart politics. But mostly I think it's worth doing because if that decency really isn't there then this whole rebuilding democracy thing isn't going to work.

I said this elsewhere, but I’ll repeat it here. If Americans saw this happening in another country they’d, rightly, decry the brutality of the authoritarian regime. And that would probably also be true of the MAGA folk who celebrate the brutality and lawlessness of ICE because, reasons.

Anyone without a strange axe to grind (even that journeyman @jodyrosen.bsky.social) knows there’s nothing remotely objectionable about advocating for basic decency in a country where Good’s murder is welcomed and Luigi Mangione is lionized.
