Officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6 attend Jack Smith hearing
Officers who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6 attend Jack Smith hearing
The former special counsel is appearing before the House Judiciary Committee to deliver a high-stakes testimony. Several police officers who responded to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol are in the hearing room to watch former special counsel Jack Smith testify in public for the first time before the House Judiciary Committee. They include Michael Fanone, Daniel Hodges, Aquilino Gonell and Harry Dunn. In an interview, Fanone — who was seated in the front row — said he was present to support Smith and hoped the former prosecutor would simply share the truth with the American public. Smith led the criminal case around allegations that Trump sought to overturn the results of the 2020 election, culminating in a violent riot of his supporters at the Capitol the day lawmakers were gathered to certify the results for Joe Biden. Gonell, asked whether he was concerned Republicans may try to incriminate Smith, said the GOP response was uncontrollable, but it was nevertheless important for the public to hear the case against President Donald Trump that Smith never got to make. “Whatever they want to do, it’s not going to wash away what was done to us and to the Capitol,” Gonell said of Republicans. “It’s about accountability and what was the betrayal [that] was done to not only us, but to the American people.”

Garcia: "Trump is leading a WH coverup right now of the Epstein files, and we all know Epstein himself said Trump was his best friend for over 10 years. It is shameful, illegal & unconstitutional that the DOJ has released 1% of the files. Where is the pressure to get Pam Bondi to release the files?"

Such an incredible thing to see the Democratic defense squad adopt "Nobody can change anything, stop trying" as their actual literal argument.
The Great Man Theory of History is bullshit, actually, and yes that includes Will.
We have to get rid of Jeffries and Schumer. We have to. It’s unendurable that these men are the most prominent Democrats of the moment. They are two of the most broadly undistinguished men I could imagine in politics, zero fire, zero fight, zero zeal, machine politicians with sinecures.

I genuinely, honestly, terrifyingly don't think Democrats have even the slightest grasp of how ten more months of doing nothing about this is not actually going to inspire people to vote for more of them into office and it's gobsmacking how this appears to be what almost all of them believe

I broke the story yesterday that masked ICE agents (not DOJ) were removing items including a personal computer from the home of Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who shot Renee Good. I have yet to see a single news outlet cover this or an elected official even acknowledge it.
NEW: These are ICE agents removing evidence from the shooter's home. They are not DOJ, they are Jonathan Ross's friends and coworkers, not DOJ.

This agent removing Ross's personal computer was reported yesterday Jan 9 for boxing in a volunteer and telling them "I'll dedicate my next arrest to you"

Jack Smith spent more than 8 hours answering questions in a closed-door deposition before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec 17

It’s worth watching — you can see why Smith wanted to testify publicly — and why the committee waited until New Year’s Eve to release the video

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
