I hope this ceasefire holds, it feels improbable that it will but I hope that if the hostages are returned that this removes Isreal’s license for genocide from the international community.

Today the government relented to pressure from the @livingwageaotearoa.bsky.social and retained the requirement for contracted workers to be paid at least the Living Wage rate in Government Contracts. Around 5,000 workers will likely benefit from this decision

I increasingly think that decrim is also how we can be better to our pacific neighbours. The current situation where international criminal cartels are using pacific islands as a means of entry to NZ and AUS is untenable and escalating. Having our neighbours police this on our behalf is absurd.

In one trial after two years taking this medication 75% of patients who had moderate to severe endo were analgesic free, and 91% were completely opioid free. I hope that pharmac funds this medication which appears to lack the side effects and risks associated with other hormonal solutions

Yea everybody I’ve known who claimed jobseeker with the health exception in their late teens or early 20s went on to later claim supported living at least for a period of time later on.

I would say that this cohort of families we are talking about is more than reasonably likely to have already been financially disadvantaged by lack of existing support for their unwell child. This adds insult to injury.

This is entirely untrue that is not what it means. What it means is that based on evidence supplied the medical team has determined in their view that at some point in the next two years you would likely be able to work more than 15 hours per week with accomodations and you’re not terminal.

Yea I vibe with that, my one overseas travel experience was an incredibly domestic and non-touristy month in the American South and it was so intensely educational and fantastic in so many ways. Whereas my touristy holiday experiences in New Zealand have been stressful and lacking depth.

I legitimately hated 1984, every sentence felt like being slapped with more depression. Like, it’s effective prose for what Orwell is trying to convey but it’s just awful to read. I always thought Down and Out was his best book - it is also depressing and dystopian *but* it is also entertaining.

I don’t think Acacia should be condemned for posting his address, these are big emotional politics and that is normalised behaviour. I don’t think we should even say doxxing Peters is wrong. But we should oppose doxxing and maybe strategically try to direct the conversation into that space.
