my BFF, formerly my platonic partner and spouse of a number of years, who went through an acute MCAS flare from may-august and then moved home, i’m finding out after taking some space, is still not doing well.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.

i have never felt more disgust for two medical professionals tbh but we did not end up going to the hospital again, primarily because partner’s life coach / friend with MCAS walked us through a lot of stuff, helped us understand what is an “emergency” and what is just distressing as actual fuck.

partner woke up from 6 hours’ sleep swollen and panicking and here’s a fun thing you shouldn’t have to say to EMTs who won’t mask before coming inside to check someone for MCAS-related anaphylaxis: “okay, if you’re fine bringing in a disabling disease!!”

(though to be fair, i had only been infected with whatever gave me ME/CFS... covid wasn't also around at that point to cause cognitive damage)

the really ironic thing is that garak's leukocytes (probably specifically his lymphocytes) were making his lymphatic tissues fill with toxins... when my BFF's lymphatic system was filled with mast cells.

we asked the dispatcher if the folks who came would mask. everyone except one EMT did show up with a surgical on. but then the lead EMT mentioned his partner had just had “a cold” for three weeks and that the unmasked EMT had just gotten over one too.

you absolutely sure it’s “just a cold” tho??

I will never understand the objection to masks in healthcare.

It’s where the sickest people are, and where the strongest & most treatment resistant bugs thrive.

People can’t “just stay home” when they need healthcare, and no one should be forced to choose between care & covid

they were both white via guys and the driver had tattoos (which always makes me nervous now, is this a chud?) they made him *climb* into the ambulance rather than bringing the stretcher to the ground, and he *collapsed* trying to do so

3 gummies over the course of about 6 hours, the last one about 2 hours ago. unless it all hits me in an extremely delayed fashion, which i suppose is still possible but is unlikely, i have to conclude that i could probably just eat these 13,000mg gummies like overpriced candy… 🤦🏼
