Another ubiquitous bird, the American Robin, is not something I would normally photograph since they often fool me into thinking some other bird just flew by. However, this scene as a whole made this time worth it.

This particular image has alluded me for years. Initially, I was drawn to the perfectly chiseled s-curve if the spine's edge. In recent years, with the increase of water in the area, these desert flowers that were once dormant, have sprung up through the soft sand.

In recent years, with the increase of water in the area, these desert flowers that were once dormant, have sprung up through the soft sand. Although a little past peak, and drying out, I was thrilled to find a couple good patches that made for a beautiful foreground, complimented by the sand dune rising above.

Rare Bird Alert! This little brown friend is a female/immature Purple Finch that was visiting my feeders today. This is a species I normally only see for a few weeks in spring and it'll be on the eBird Rare Bird Alert tomorrow. 🪶
