Making art is SUCH a dice roll, and I do understand people being scared of it and wanting some kind of failsafe built in, but: no. No, making art has always been a dice roll, and that's why so very many people who want to do it (almost) never do. It doesn't always feel good! It doesn't always pay!

Hating down is such a waste of everyone's time and energy. It's based on laziness and selfishness as well as fear. If you're white, straight and well to do, you're safe from "the minorities". They aren't after you, they can't harm you. Your enemies are the ones telling you to hate "the minorities".

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

My fiancee came up to me an hour or so ago, phone in hand, and said "You know, maybe people like us shouldn't have one of these" and I've just been sitting here thinking about that as I mindlessly scroll advice column and webcomic archives while waiting for my brain to allow me to do what I *want*.
