I wonder if Jane Austen would have been amused to know that some of her most-quoted lines of dialogue were said by some of her most unlikeable characters, usually in an effort to sound impressive

We hates it, precious. Well, "hate" is a bit strong but I don't like it. But *waving cane vigorously* if it brings the Young Persons into the Janeite fold, I can live with them.
I saw these new Penguin Classics editions for the Jane Austen books on my timeline and now you all need to see it too 😭

31 Jan 1902, ‘Jane Austen Her Homes and Her Friends’ by Constance Hill was advertised for sale.
She had gone on a Jane Austen 'pilgrimage' with her artist sister, Ellen.
We can compare the places they saw in 1901 with the locations on the Overton to Steventon trail.

Finished the sewing on the Jane Austen cross stitch quote. Let's see how long it takes me to get around to framing it now 😄

I think Jane Austen would have been brutal on these social media sites.

1 post and she would have decimated the patriarchy and the billionaire class.

What is more, she’d have made it funny.

No one would see it, though, because it would be totally missed by the algorithm.
