Stuff like this is a stark reminder of why legal positivism is perhaps the most important political project of the last two centuries or so

auctoritas non veritas facit legem

Badenoch and friends hate universities and especially the arts, humanities and social sciences. They blame them for 'poisoning' and 'brainwashing' the minds of the young.

Also my experience. Some good uses but, so far, LLMs net effect on my life personally has been negative, due to their detrimental effect on student writing and my broader cultural world. The hate and disdain for LLMs on this website can slip into the absurd... but, like, ground truth is they're bad.

I have to say my experience with LLMs as sources of information is very similar: confident semi-lying, good for quick brainstorming or getting another perspective on something but of little use for any critical application. By @kurzgesagt.org

Highland cattle are famous for their ability to "disco nap". Normally these brief, efficient sleeps will last between three and twenty minutes, deploying a variety of objects as pillows, including moorland boulders, cars or any particularly large dog or sheep who happens to be nearby.

At some point, you'd think they ought to conclude that *there isn't an acceptable, mandatory alternative*, and put the resources into other, more practical ways of addressing the *societal* problem of child abuse instead. But they'd rather have the means of mass surveillance and censorship. 🤷‍♂️
