Zelenskyy in Munich: “The Ukrainian Army is the strongest army in Europe, thanks to our heroes.

Tell Putin to leave Ukraine otherwise STFU
...at each step the EU has doubled down and each time lost. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is going to finish with a much worse outcome for the EU than if we had done literally nothing for the last 15 years (and a destroyed Ukraine) and the European right can't face an accounting for that failure.

Reminds me how Sinn Féin quietly removed numerous statements about Russia from their website immediately after the invasion of Ukraine. It's not about changing their opinion or allegiance - it's only that their continued relationship is too embarassing to normal people.

This is all I think about when people post about Obama these days. He started the neo-apeasement of Russia by the US that got us here where we are now.
💥Blast from the past: On March 6, 2009, Hillary Clinton handed Sergey Lavrov a symbolic “reset” button—emblematic of the Obama administration’s naive Russia reset policy. It signaled weakness to Moscow and alarmed Eastern Europe, which saw the US pull back and Putin quickly step in.

Hands up everyone who has wanted to say that to Paul Murphy for a very long time.

The Triple Lock should go into the dustbin of history where it rightfully belongs
discuss some of these issues on this new @NewstalkFM podcast, in particular the ridiculous ‘Triple Lock’ which essentially outsources Irish decision making on international troop deployment.

Good, at least, to see this relic consigned to history.

The notion Russia might try annexing a bit of Estonia is totally ridiculous fear mongering, but there is a VERY real risk of Ireland being DRAGGED into WW3.

Wow still going this hard on this bollox in 2026? Ireland first, let Ukrainians be bombed and frozen to death.

Sinn Féin will always be populist nationalists first, leftists and cosmetic “anti-imperialists“ second.

The power outages and freezing conditions in Ukraine right now are insane. Greenland news and war “coverage fatigue” not giving it the presence in headlines it deserves. The humanitarian impact is absolutely staggering.

War and instability have been part of human history for as long as humans exist. As the pampered comfort of the US shield in Europe disappears (even those who hate the US had benefitted from it), it is going to be painful but this is not the end of the world - only the world as some of us know it.

Yeah the sidestepped elephant in the room with this stuff is much less “should Ireland worry about being invaded by Russia“ (I don’t think so) but “should Ireland feel obliged to aid other EU countries if they are threatened by Russia“ (I think so)

Brexit is treason. It damages our economy, weakens our geopolitical position, makes us vulnerable to Trump's bullying. It serves Putin and Trump, and would not have taken place without Russian and American far-right interference in our politics.

Yeah, you can disagree about weather we need them but we can absolutely afford fighter jets

At the end of the day it’s less about preparing for an invasion. It’s do we think we should be responsible for policing/patrolling our air space and territorial waters (which is also Europe’s western border)

Probably not but we could do everything else. Expelling all US diplomats and military from bases, cutting trade ties and freezing assets. Basically all the shit they have done to Russia.

This would cause a global depression, of course. Mutually assured economic destruction.
