something i didn’t realize i’d appreciate about being back in cali are the old cars. they can’t last long out in the salt belt. there’s so many beautiful old cars here that i see almost every time i go out. i love it.

for a while, i did work on myself thinking eventually i would be done. then i did enough work on myself to realize that i’ll never be done. it’s just not something that gets finished. and realizing that feels like a huge achievement in the work.

Hospital acquired COVID has a 10% fatality rate & is almost completely avoidable with clean air & masking

Why aren’t we doing it? Why aren’t people enraged when someone goes in for care & dies of COVID?

It’s because they think those vulnerable people were going to die soon anyways. It’s eugenics

There's a guy in our town I can't stand. Talks nonstop, built a backyard pool--blacklisted from my bbqs. But I've grown to respect him a ton: ride or die for our neighborhood school, tells off anyone considering magnet BS, lobbies relentlessly, hardcore member of our trilingual ICE patrol. A lesson!

this is why it’s always bothered me when the news has a focus on “innocence” in any context. that word is a dog whistle. who is deemed innocent in a world of injustice?
It shouldn't matter if Trump’s victims have criminal records. If we only defend the “innocent,” the fascists will argue that their victim “was no angel.” An anti-fascist rhetoric that carves out exceptions for imperfect victims is a gift to our opponents.

these crowds are really incredible. the photos, the videos, the signs and banners stretching seemingly endlessly. and what will happen next? what will the ramifications of such a big day be? did we all get our energy out or are we really building momentum to push more for change?

we constantly see people do the worst of things and not bat an eye, so it's no wonder that, when someone in our community does something harmful, we struggle to know what it looks like for them to own it and change and continue to be part of the space.
