Kaohly Her is makign the same mistake that previous St. Paul political candidates have done, overestimating the Summit Avenue bikelash and playing coy / being condescending around public works process. That tactic has failed every time so far, and will here too. www.twincities.com/2025/10/07/s...
St. Paul’s mayoral candidates diverge on Summit Ave. bike trail
State Rep. Kaohly Her questioned the planning around the bike trail, but said she was not ready to cancel it.

St. Paul was inspired by the "Denver Model" and created its own "Saint Paul Model" and brought their clearance rate from 37% in 2023 to 70.5% in 2024.

In 2025, St. Paul is now trending to have a 30% reduction in shots fired and a 70% reduction in homicides.

I watched the whole thing (huge pain tolerance for ingesting bad media), and every "solution" involves lower corporate tax rates, deregulation, and punching left. It's the same old project, nothing new here.

Not sure you would waste your time watching that documentary when you could just read what the gang at @racketmn.com has to say about it.

That subreddit sucks ass for the most part. Sorry to see you became its main character today. And unwittingly at that.

Every time I see someone say, "this violates the Hatch Act" I think: None of this matters obviously this administration doesn't believe the law applies to them. But then I see something like this and think: Damn, we aren't just playing by different rules. We're playing entirely different games.

NEW—US Department of Education sent out standard Out of Office language to employees on Wednesday in light of shutdown. Later yesterday, workers tell me they found someone had updated their auto-responses without consent to a new one blaming Democrats.

Version of original on left, updated on right:
Thank you for your email. There is a temporary shutdown of the U.S. government due to a lapse in appropriations. I will respond to your message as soon as possible after the temporary shutdown ends. Please visit ED.gov for the latest information on the
Department's operational status.
Thank you. Thank you for contacting me. On September 19, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 5371, a clean continuing resolution. Unfortunately, Democrat Senators are blocking passage of H.R. 5371 in the Senate which has led to a lapse in appropriations. Due to the lapse in appropriations I am currently in furlough status. I will respond to emails once government functions resume.

Day three of #WeekWithoutDriving. For me, the morning was easy: Green Line straight to downtown, very easy and completely uneventful. For the rest of my family, today is a different story.

Not to double down on the Saint Paul Scold, but I'm with Wes here. While I think it's true that Coates comes off as a deeply thoughtful intellectual (that I think outpaces Klein by miles,) I also think Klein's willingness to vulnerability is essential and refreshing. And it shouldn't be diminished.

So the other day @wesburdine.bsky.social upbraided me, as only a friend can, for celebrating Coates ”pantsing” Klein (my word). I think this piece makes Wes look better & me look worse; it’s really about finding firm footing in history’s arc to fight fascism when your gifted/talented world‘s upended

US farmers are saying they "just need temporary help, until things get better."

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

Was just reading the Zone Coverage piece on the Collier no call. The WNBA league office should be absolutely embarrassed about how they dealt with that. Suspending the coach is shameful after that is a disgrace.

From @nbareferees.bsky.social on X: This is NOT a foul. Thomas legally gets to the ball and knocks the ball loose prior to any contact. The leg to leg contact is incidental once the ball is clearly loose. This was correctly judged in real time as a no call as were the subsequent technical fouls.
