Oh yea I’ve seen those. Seem like Carhart style stuff and I’ve considered them for sure.

“Vote Yes on Saint Paul City Question 1 or continue living in a mad max style libertarian free for all”

A precisely direct quote that I definitely did really say while on @wedge.live

Today on the Wedge LIVE podcast: St Paul Election 2025 w/ Matt Privratsky. Too few realize that St Paul has a question on the ballot that will decide whether they remain a Mad Max-style libertarian free for all - or adopt a civilized way to enforce society's rules (administrative citations).

Saw them putting in a couple by Goodwill yesterday too.

Good article on the irreplaceable KMOJ, which I listen to a lot because my neighbors play it loudly in their backyard in summer. It really is an institution, and needs your support! www.startribune.com/medcalf-why-...

For decades, the Minneapolis station has been a vital hub for Black Minnesotans.

Similar to how I think the idea of talking about “Greater Minnesota” or “Outstate” as a same region/place is wild in most instances. As someone who grew up in northern Minnesota and never ever felt naturally connected to southern Minnesota in anyway etc.
mattprivratsky.bsky.social
Honestly I’ve never thought of how I’d draw those regions cause I don’t have any personal identity tied to them. I’d mostly just assume I have super narrow idea of Midwest compared to most.
mattprivratsky.bsky.social
My additional take is that basically every single map of the Midwest isn't just too big, it's usually way way too big (as this one is)

THAT’S THREE FOR THE LOONS!!

Honestly I could have believed lower. Travel coverage, in particular, is so damn rare.

St. Paul was inspired by the "Denver Model" and created its own "Saint Paul Model" and brought their clearance rate from 37% in 2023 to 70.5% in 2024.

In 2025, St. Paul is now trending to have a 30% reduction in shots fired and a 70% reduction in homicides.

Worth noting that the two MN projects specified in the reporting (long form storage in Becker and a transmission lines for MN Power) are in GOP held districts.

This federal administration is cutting off its nose to spite its face. Storage and transmission are common sense. Full stop.
mattprivratsky.bsky.social
Just so folks are aware: it is almost universally known that more transmission lines are needed (not fewer) to meet our energy needs.

Even people who *hate* renewables would agree with this. Which means chopping this funding is basically deranged.

Initial response was it was multiple things (equipment on the individual trains themselves, equipment on the tracks themselves, equipment on the lights themselves, and obviously the policy and purchasing decisions). My general ask at the time was to list out everything. Current W4 is following up.

Best way to know someone isnt tough?

Them yelling about how tough they are.

It's fascinating and revealing how many centrists think refusing to compromise on human rights to gain the support of bigots represents a "political purity test," yet also think that a bigot saying "I won't join you unless you accommodate my bigotry" does NOT represent a "political purity test."
