Also repost this if a fact-checker had saved you from yourself. Both have happened to me, many times, which is the true and proper way of being an author and a journalist.

repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I’m convinced the main reason Miyazaki films have a reputation for being “cozy” in the West is because he actually writes and animates long moments of quiet into his stories, whereas Western animated films are usually a nonstop parade of loud music, sounds, noises and neon colors.

Miyazaki: in this movie two young girls (one is a toddler) are uprooted from everything they know to start new lives near the rural hospital their mother is in; she is possibly dying of TB. Their dad works several hours away and they are largely unsupervised.

Portrait of the Lady in Black has (simultaneously)
A. One of the most beautiful scores for a Giallo ever.
B. One of the most disgusting endings for a Giallo ever.

I always bet on Shane Black, and enjoyed PLAY DIRTY as a really fun lark of a pulpy heist thriller. Snappy, with Wahlberg making it work in DEPARTED mode. Rosa Salazar and Lakeith are good too. Not seeing why folks are so sour on it. Disposable fun in the best way!

I mean, “Liberty 1776 - 2026” kinda speaks for itself, right? Can’t think of a better elegy.

What's great about a major cultural event like ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER is that it gives the top media outlets a chance to do what they do best: contextualize, analyze, and make further recommendations.

Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

There's nothing scary about New York City's first horror-centric bookstore... unless you're terrified of a welcoming atmosphere and dark academia decor.

The thing the new #FantasticFour got so right about Galactus (besides everything) is he doesn’t have to look “evil” or even be “evil” to be terrifying. His size and intent do that. Kirby always drew him similarly detached. Big giant movie “monsters” often get it wrong by appearing too demonic.

Hell yeah, dude. Do you still have some of the merchandise?
