David Jonsson is preposterously good in Alien: Romulus. I'm not exactly breaking news, but damn.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) is some good-ass watchin’ in general, but it’s also a masterclass in maximizing tension with minimal camera work.

Ahaha, good grief, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is an upsettingly long film. Movies do not need to be this long! It should be shorter, this movie.

Every time I try to write something about One Battle After Another I end up staring wistfully into the distance.

It’s like asking someone to review the Vitruvian Man.

Spinal Tap II was dope. Tosses in a dash of melancholy without losing focus on its primary goal, which is being as deadpan absurd as humanly possible.

Unrepentant Life Aquatic defender, but it would benefit from characters not named Steve Zissou being 25% less ironic, and Zissou himself being at least vaguely likable. The classic Murray insufferable-relatable ratio is off.

"Captain Ahab, if he was an idiot," is still an amazing premise, though.

Some Dems have told themselves only ~1% of the population is trans so they can dip their toe in the anti-trans filth and come out clean.

I don't have any trans family members—but it still makes me irate. I see it as a huge red flag, a sign you are unprincipled and untrustworthy. And I'm not alone.
We are parents of a trans kid and our family takes this very, very personally. If you intentionally make life harder for our beloved daughter, it’s EXTREMELY hard to think of you as an ally, to say the least. @amyklobuchar.com - you still send us requests for money, while hurting our kid. Disgusted.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->

By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Overlord (2018) was good! Only major gripe is that it gets a little wonky in the second act - can't decide between maintaining the schlock or adding emotional heft. It's a film about zombie Nazis, my dudes. Don't overthink things!

I like Charlie Bartlett (2007). I don't know if anyone else remembers it, but I think it's solid. I think it got dragged for having a wonky plot structure? Maybe it does! But that never really bothered me. Plot strikes me as secondary in a movie like this.

Also, Anton Yelchin was actually the best.

For a couple of years now, I've been fascinated with what's happening at small liberal arts colleges, which are running out of money for reasons unrelated to Trump funding cuts. Businessweek let me go deep on the problems, and one college that's trying to blaze a new trail.
Why a College Fighting for Survival Is Slashing Econ and Physics Majors
At Albright in Pennsylvania, the new president is cutting programs, selling art and real estate, and vowing not to hire anyone with tenure. Is this the way forward for liberal arts colleges?
