I appreciate the effort to sound the alarm and identify historic echoes—and many are making this analogy—but Hirschfeld’s Institute for Sexual Science, unlike the NIH et al., was not a government agency. Worse, the book burnings of 1933 did not involve the Institute setting its own records on fire.
Maybe there's some confusion about the motives of the moves to crush the NIH, NSF, and CDC. The Trump administration is conducting a book burning. Me for @sequencermag.bsky.social

Apologies to my followers as I've become more political as of late! This used to just be movies! But it has been incredibly disheartening to see the lack of rage and urgency from many on the Left - especially those in power.
