A federal judge blocked the Trump administration from withholding critical grant dollars from Saint Paul and 10 other jurisdictions. The court affirmed what we’ve always known: a president cannot hold hostage funding to force compliance with a political agenda.

I’m sickened by the murder of Charlie Kirk; his family is in my prayers. Political violence is destroying us. America was built on the right to speak without fear of retribution. Consoling words aren’t enough. Our leaders must actively reject the idea that those with differing views are the enemy.

Didn’t get to this before tonight. But it is such a great snapshot into how Melvin processes this work.

@melvincarter.bsky.social cares deeply about the work, refuses to make decisions based on fear, and absolutely knows the job. Proud to support him for Saint Paul Mayor!

In 2023, I passed legislation that significantly restricted the use of no-knock warrants in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s (BCA) most recent report, their use dropped by 78% last year. This is a major victory for public safety and accountability.
Report: Minnesota police executed 78% fewer no-knock warrants in Minnesota last year
The report shows many agencies, including the Hennepin and Ramsey County sheriff’s offices, stopped requesting no-knock warrants in 2024.
