Hot Take: We should stop obsessing over unconditional love and expecting to receive it from others. It's wonderful to be seen and be loved for our true selves, but being held to a standard of decency, which may differ for every relationship, is important. Don't forsake values for love.

Everyone has the right to love and be loved, regardless of gender.
No one can infringe on the ability to express love
Something so simple has become complicated in our world
Let's all raise our voices to solve this problem and create a world where we can express love freely and openly.

A strange thought: those arguing against property destruction as a statement are those who would be fine with arbitrary taxation as a colony.

Days after reuniting with his family, the Trump administration has once again detained Kilmar Ábrego García and now plans to deport him to Uganda — a country he has zero connection to — as retaliation for not accepting the government's plea deal.

This vindictive cruelty must end.

Sometimes, I feel like a shitty person for this, and it feels like a hot take: reading commentary on someone's appearance always feels gross... even if that person is the epitome of evil. It makes me feel bad to think like that because they certainly deserve to doubt themselves.

In reading one of those historical romance comics, I started thinking about the common scene where women are in the competitive cliques and at odds with each other. I chalked it up to internal misogyny, but did I really take the time to consider why, along with its implications?

It's so hard for me to get behind celebrity fandom...and even remembering quotes from famous people. I have so much trouble recognizing other people who aren't in my life on a regular basis; I will literally forget names and faces will also fade. I think this may be why I'm such a fan of my friends.

Why invite youth to develop and present their own art exhibition if you're just going to censor it when it scares your sensibilities.
Teen artists portrayed their lives — some adults didn't want to see the full picture
"What is it like to be a teen right now?" Young artists explored that question for two different exhibitions of their work this summer. But on the National Mall, their work was deemed too political.

As a person who is uncomfortable in feeling and expressing anger and rage, but permits herself to feel pity: I think my pity and empathy may well be worse. In doing so, I participate in an acceptance of hopelessness, whether temporary or not. And frankly, this awareness deepens and bolsters my pity.
