I'm not asking you to read our books (but I think they're awesome) or respect how we write (but you don't need to tell me to my face that you have bad taste), but I am asking you to think about us as colleagues who are going to get hit by the shit first, and to give a fuck when it happens to us.

I'm a software engineer who has to deal with LLMs on the day job and am dismayed that we have managed to make computers bad at logic.

We have to choose good every day. We have to choose acceptance and equality and equity and justice. None of us are inherently beyond that. And the first step to doing good is recognising that you aren’t better than anyone else.

We live in a world built by the GOP gerrymandering after 2010.

National Democrats didn’t see that as an emergency at the time, and now they cannot hold the presidency because of it.

The point of writing crap is not that you should barf out anything.

It's that you should be aware as you are writing it what the flaws are, and you need to get through it the first time, because the act of doing so informs you what is wrong.

The lessons for heavy DIYers to take from this, btw:

If your doctor says your insurance won't approve a newly-released drug you really want to try, don't despair. Ask them if they're willing to do a "peer to peer" if you draft the justification for them to edit to save time.

If you're in the U.S. (they may ship elsewhere, but I'm not sure), look up Theo's chocolate. They do high quality chocolate, fair trade, very good allergen labeling, lots of varieties (most w/o salt).
One of the few chocolates without soy, for me.
