Great graphics - long A&E wait times are caused by a lack of bed not by the number attending. It's counter-intuitive but really important in understanding how to fix the problem!
It was good to see @samfr.bsky.social say today that "the main reason for lengthy A&E waiting times is the lack of hospital beds for people who need admitting, which gums up the whole system as they have to keep being treated by emergency staff."

While #AI probably _is_ having an impact on the UK #labour #market, the story is much more nuanced than the one you hear in most media. Vacancies have come down significantly across the board, and not obviously more so in sectors most exposed to AI. #dataisbeautiful

Health saw the biggest spending increases out of public services: DHSC day-to-day spending is set to grow by 2.8% in real terms over the Spending Review period, and 2.7% over the whole parliament.

On 16 March, DHSC announced “crack teams” of top clinicians working in 20 trusts had reduced the waiting list by 130% more than in trusts elsewhere. As a result, the scheme (called FF20 – Further Faster 20), is being rolled out across the country.

In March, the government announced that waiting lists in 20 hospitals given support to tackle waiting lists had, on average, fallen 130% faster than the fall elsewhere.
