@christina-hn.bsky.social gave insights into tree growth, the role of water supply, and how we measure it - from traditional approaches to high-resolution sensors.
michela-audisio.bsky.social
@rschwutke.bsky.social took participants into the canopy to measure stomatal conductance (=how much water exits leaves through stomata). Trees limit water loss by regulating their stomata - some tree species are more conservative with their water and close their stomata earlier than others

Saturday we @enricounigoe.bsky.social went into the forest for our outreach project “Forest Resilience: Science and Practice”. We showed how scientists study forests — from soil to canopy — to supports climate-resilient forest management.

We've officially done the real-deal fieldwork after tree climbing course
@rschwutke.bsky.social and @kieuthuyquynh.bsky.social completed their very first tree climbing work after the training to collect leaves samples. It was a huge, upward-bound step for our research, and we're so ready for more!

Forests can’t regrow if seeds can’t move.

New research shows 60% of tropical regrowth zones have lost the animals that once carried seeds there.

No dispersers, no recovery.

Rewilding isn’t optional: it’s the missing link in climate and restoration plans. 🌱🐦‍⬛ 🦜
