When in the woods, best beware of dead man's fingers lurking there.
Reaching up above the ground, a creepy fungi to be found.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Joy. That's what is missing way too often from the current discourse on learning and education. I don't mean being overtly happy all the time, nor having endless fun at school (as if!), but an underlying belief that learning can be a joyful, engaging process, not just stuffing more into your memory.

Love this!
Said this many times before, but: There’s no other medium that so routinely plays with both form, and the reality it constructs, as comics. I think that sense of play is fundamentally part of why children love the medium, and why publishing dropped the ball for so long in not making them.

Straight to ‘let’s have a debate about whether racism is racism’ for *almost* all of the UK media. Nothing learned from the lessons of Brexit, Trump & Johnson. But on we go.
Off the top of my head, there have been four egregious examples of weapons grade public racism in the last couple of weeks - Jenrick; the Express hack; Captain Concrete & the Reform woman. The way they are treated by employers, punters & wider media, will directly influence how much more we see.

Unbelievable…

Framing racism as a matter of opinion is how prejudice gets normalised. If someone’s “driven mad” by seeing Black and Asian people on TV, that isn’t realism, it’s racism.

You should be ashamed to dress that up as discussion
Is the Reform MP who says she’s driven mad by TV adverts full of Black & Asian people a racist or realist? How many migrants would the Tories expel? & should the UK be selling fighter jets to Türkiye?

Yes climate breakdown means more turbulence for flyers.

It’s also on track to heat the planet by 4C+ this century, kill billions of people & collapse our civilization.

Keep on seeing the deadliest crisis our species has ever faced framed as some minor consumerist inconvenience.

🔴Asylum hotels are in nobody's interests. They're bad for new arrivals, bad for local communities - and it's not a great look for the government, either.

So why, when it's costing £15 billion, can't they just get on with it and close them? My thoughts.👇

If you're watching advertisements on tv and counting the races of the people in them you're not only a massive racist - but you're sad as fuck.

I guess I'm just not a “block and move on” person.

The same divisive rhetoric, the same right-wing gaslighting... it’s tedious, it’s toxic, and it needs to be called out now more than ever imo.
