Yes, JD. Let’s ask them if they think a stay at home mom, avowed Christian, and widow of a veteran deserved to be shot in the face and left to bleed out in her own car after dropping her 6-year-old off at school, for the crime of looking out for her neighbors. Let’s ask everyone running for office.

It's time to state clearly that if MAGA and Republicans can't condemn any part of this shooting, continue to blame the victim for it, and even hint that it's a just outcome that others "deserve," that's a crossing of the line that the rest of us won't ever be able to forget.
Rep. Randy Fine: "If you impede the actions of our law enforcement as they seek to repel foreign invaders from our country, you get what's coming to you. I do not feel bad for the woman that was involved."

These two images are the party affiliations of elected officials who were guests on Fox News vs. PBS. In some cases I included lawmakers who were interviewed by a Fox News correspondent too. No kidding this is what they look like. PBS was almost perfectly 50/50.

a lot of us forgot that the main reason racism is unacceptable is because it’s a fast-track to the end of human civilization, not because it’s uncouth. people will look back on this as an exceptionally stupid failure of memory and imagination, both.

New in PN: Corporation for Public Broadcasting's patriotic goodbye

"We’re in thrall to a con man who denigrates the very idea of truth and uses media only to distract and divide. And so the CPB board members broke their plowshares lest they be beaten into swords by a deranged demagogue."

Samuel Alito flew two flags used by insurrectionists.

Clarence Thomas' wife plotted to overturn the 2020 election.

Both justices refused to recuse themselves from SCOTUS cases related to the January 6th plot.

It's a stain on our nation that this has effectively been forgotten.

1. Hundreds of corps that pledged to stop donating to members of Congress who voted to overturn the election on 1/6/21 have broken their promise over the last 5 years

But we've identified 10 promise keepers:

Farmers
Airbnb
Expedia
Nike
Clorox
Eversource Energy
Holland & Hart
Qurate
Whirlpool
Lyft
Five years later, these 10 corporations still aren’t funding election deniers
Five years ago today, on January 6, 2021, a violent mob stormed the Capitol building.

This is an important point, which is that the Post draws on a long-standing trope that equates the receipt of government resources with dependence, rather than opportunity and a measure of dignity. We have real research on this: people who access SNAP are more likely to enjoy economic benefits.
Actually, it's not to make sure people aren't "dependent on government handouts." Plenty of people are dependent on social security as retirees, or survivors, or disabled folks, and that's exactly what those benefits are for. The purpose of SNAP benefits is to keep people from starving to death. 1/
"The purpose of entitlements is not to spend as much as possible," the Editorial Board writes.

"It is to make sure the truly vulnerable get the help they need without becoming dependent on government handouts. Scrutinizing food stamp rolls is a small step in that direction."

This time on the Epstein cover-up.

CBS is basically a state-run propaganda rag protecting the President.

Oh, and btw, innocent people don’t force the news to cancel coverage of investigations into their sex crimes.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.
