Aging is so complicated. I grew up with a mom who was obsessed with her body. Always too fat too wrinkled too saggy too pale (and a total knockout, so yeah).

Trying to make peace with my face as it changes and embrace and love it while that voice still lingers, shaming me for showing time.

If you want to get your sea legs on mutual aid, one thing you can do is throw a 24 pack of water and some individually packaged nonperishable snacks in your trunk and just keep your eyes open.

Pulling over and offering water to a person in distress can be a much bigger help than you realize.
