We started Reconstruction but it fairly quickly led to a civil war with the KKK that the government largely lost, and we gave up the rest of Reconstruction to sweep that under the rug.

The past 50-60 years of politics has been the bill coming due for that.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

I’m taking this opportunity to thank you again for helping me via tweet when the mayor of my City came after me for being, in his opinion, a bad Nextdoor moderator. He wanted the City Attorney to sue me. I think your response was a groan and I knew I was on solid ground ignoring him

Hi - I'm one of the American people.

What I'm demanding is that you focus on what it takes to protect American citizens from the "papers please" temu gestapo
Schumer as a major American metro is being brutally occupied by Trump goons: "The affordability crisis will be our focus throughout 2026 because that's what the American people are demanding"

He's on record saying he decided to run because he thought Harris couldn't win.

I don't think he "lied". He had no incentive to lie about this.

Yes, and, Biden did himself zero favors. He could have been a "zero fucks to give" one-term president, instead he surrounded himself by party apparatchiks and hunkered down to run for a second term no one wanted.

THe steep decline for Biden should stand as an embarrasment for all the party leaders. Biden was doing a great job and they just stood back and let the media trash him for four years.

Thus, anti-vaxxers. Conspiracy theorists. Vibes replacing consensus reality. If there's a firehose of information, the average person cannot devote the mental resources needed to determine what's real and what isn't, so they'll just pick whichever reality feels best to them. Bad actors can provide.

🤬My anger cannot be expressed in words that the human ear would allow itself to be open to.
It should be a violation of attorney ethics rules to represent the govt against an unrepresented minor. Make it so the govt attorneys and immigration judges aren't allowed to be in the process.
There is no sight that more efficiently puts the lie to immigration “court” than the common sight of children “representing themselves.” Children too small to climb into the chair, children in pajamas who don’t know where they are, children not yet old enough to speak.

Chris Duncan’s longtime claims of innocence were boosted by the discrediting of bite mark analysis, and by recent reforms now under threat from the state’s Republican leadership.
