Wasn’t really sure what to expect from Chapel Bill. But after that drive, I have him as second best college coach I’ve ever seen, just below Saban.

He could have just retired to hang out with his girlfriend but somehow he got himself into a fiasco that has put “maybe it really was all Tom Brady and he was never that good” on the board in a serious way. Hustling backwards!

Per sources: Bill Belichick has discussed buyout options with North Carolina’s hierarchy. Belichick has signaled a willingness to trigger his own $1 million buyout if he can find a soft landing with another team or in media

As a long time Milwaukee resident I can tell you there are resentments here but sweating Chicago's status in the world is waaay down the list.

People on here seem to be complaining a lot about the Brewers not being 'cool' enough. To them I say: grow up and watch yr money burn this season.

This is the sort of thing I expect to see a lot of over the next 2-3 years. Hybrids (both gas and PHEV) hitting near-cost parity with conventional ICE.

Our inferiority complex is less than Chicago’s but we’ve also lost a good amount of leadership, ambition, & accountability.

We were a COVID migration net importer at least as a region - that helped.

However there is a healthy creative tension between inferiority complex/comparing yourself the “bigger/better” things and productively improving yourself. I feel like Atlanta has lost some of both.

The most irritating thing about my native city is it’s periodic inferiority complex over NYC.

Reorienting that negative energy to what should be our “little brother city to north”, which is quite nice, is just stupid.

Save that stuff for Green Bay.

Paul Sullivan in the Tribune this morning. Dumb as hell. Milwaukee thanks Chicago for burning down in 1871, which made it the beer capital of the world. Beyond that they appreciate being so near to Chicago. They don't resent it. If anything they want to be more like the Milwaukee of 1960.
Sullivan's theory that Milwaukee fans resent Chicago as a world class city, while Milwaukee has The Fonz, and they should get over losing Craig Counsell.

I didn’t see that “Vonnegut going out for an envelope” thing until maybe two months ago but I’ve been thinking about constantly since then. getting out to Do A Thing is something we should consider ourselves truly fortunate to be able to do and I wish more people felt this way

This is a good post. We can build places to minimize exposure to elements while preserving walkability in any climate. We don’t have to build for hours long strolls. Think in terms of only needing to be outside for a few minutes, which is fine even in a Phoenix summer or Minneapolis winter.

I'm a recreational (and occasionally scientific) scuba diver and I prefer analog gauges to digital ones. All that stuff is tested and safe, I just like gear that has fewer failure points and generally indicates when it is about to fall apart before it does.
