Come work with me!!!! It’s a great environment, and not just because I’m here. We are an interdisciplinary unit housed within a (dare I say rapidly?) growing College of Liberal Arts. We will have a brand new 45 million dollar building in 2027. Yes! In Louisiana! Believe it!

A deeply dangerous — and blatantly retaliatory action against Colorado — by the Trump administration.

NCAR is one of the most renowned scientific facilities in the WORLD — where scientists perform cutting-edge research everyday.

We will fight this reckless directive with every legal tool we have.
Exclusive: The Trump administration is moving to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, according to a senior White House official, taking aim at one of the world's leading climate research labs.

He truly believes they are invisible.
Trump: "The only time anybody could see those planes was when those bomb chutes open up, because it becomes totally un-stealth. You're going in, you go like this. As soon as it goes like this, for some reason the plane is totally visible. Not good. I watched it happening. I watched it go bing bing"

Agree on the politics, but important to realize Rubio et al believe Venezuela regime change is the key to transforming the whole region, not least Cuba. Very much like neocons and Iraq, very parallel. This is a major geopolitical aim for them, much deeper than wag the dog
Seems like Trump and his groupies think starting a regime change war of conquest out of nowhere is a political masterstroke that will get them back on the front foot, but I don’t think that’s how it will play out.

This plainly a copy of putin’s justification for Ukraine invasion. Apparently Venezuela is a creation of the United States and rightfully ours, like Ukraine is ACTUALLY Russia.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

War powers resolution allows for 60 days of bs however.
this does not legally imply that. a state of war, legally, only exists when it is declared and ratified by congress.

this also means all the dooming posts about how this is going to be some grand plan for enemy aliens act stuff need to take a walk.

they are not that smart or clever.
Do people realize this legally implies a state of war between the United States and Venezuela?

It is international law 101 that a military blockade is not just a violation of the UN Charter, but a crime of aggression.

Unless that blockade is in response to an 'armed attack.'

None of President's Trump's list of complaints come close to an armed attack.

The will do to anti war Latinos what they did to Palestinian sympathizers. Might even be a way to justify killing anyone who’s anti-war by declaring the whole country a terrorist organization

… and (*sigh*) yeah.
I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along
There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.

War for no reason. UN must speak or do something. As should NATO.

Again, if they want to do things like this they need to pass a law and have public hearings on the merits. Instead they hide behind vague national emergency arguments.

Out of the 39, Nigeria is also the country most heavily impacted by the ban on non-immigrant visas. Excluding the COVID years, from FY 2015 to 2024 an average of 128,000 Nigerians were granted nonimmigrant visas each year. These were primarily tourist and student visas, which are now barred.

Welp. This personally affects at least two people I know immediately
Under the expanded ban:

- 19 countries are subject to near-total bars on immigrant or non-immigrant visas.
- 19 countries are subject to near-total bars on immigrant visas and a bar on tourist, student, and exchange visitor visas.
- Turkmenistan is subject to a near-total bar on immigrant visas.

It's bad.
Payrolls fell -105k in October and rose +64k in November. August and September payrolls were also revised down a total of 33k.

These data suggest VIRTUALLY NO EMPLOYMENT GROWTH since April ("Liberation day").

Unemployment is now up to 4.6%.

This is a tricky report, so stay tuned.
