Because this 5% or so of immigration is the kind that makes people angry, resentful, and frightened.
If we talked more about the 95% of immigration that is for work, study, to support our vital industries & our economy, well... people just wouldn't be so worried about it.

Through government programs (also under the Tories) three times as many immigrate to the Britain, to fill skills based gaps in the job market. They come from all over the world, various colours, cultures and nationalities. Why focus on solely on small boat arrivals, as a source of vilification?

Icymi, Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Dr. Margaret Carpenter, who practices in New York, for prescribing abortion medication for a patient in Texas. NY’s shield law should protect her (we hope), but the lawsuit itself will have its intended chilling effect regardless.
