“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Basically, Masters showed up a couple budgets back & basically contradicted the notion that the city was broke all the time. She went over the list of assets & said how can an organization that has this much valuable stuff be broke? /2 #yqrcc

May your care team care for you as well as you've cared for our community. Prayers arising for you and your beloveds as you enter this next stage in your journey. May your way ahead be filled with love and healing.

We need mean time-to-failure data too. I'll take a global MtF figure if we don't have it by specific material installed.

I wonder how good the city's original project data is after 70 years and one amalgamation.

Famously infrastructure lasts forever and never needs repair or maintenance; that’s how we’re able to keep taxes so low…. #sarcasm

I defer to your recent expertise. It's been a long time since I lived downtown.

I remain concerned paint and flexiposts are not enough. It requires curbs that redirect cars back to their lane rather than breaching or beaching.

It's never a good thing when city staff are posting their personal opinions on social media about public comments on a project in their department. It happens. It is best when they declare they work with the city in advance. This comment was not professional. #OttPoli

What is the observed speed? I'd guess it is still a high speed area.

None of the other common symptoms of illness translate to excitement about a sports team quite like "fever."

Imagine! I doubt @mayormarksutcliffe.bsky.social has been on a bus very often, let alone listening to feedback and tacking hard issues with random people.
zohrankmamdani.bsky.social
I'm on the slowest bus line in the city with the slowest buses in the nation to talk to New Yorkers about what it would mean for their lives if we made them fast and free.
Zohran sits on a bus talking to a rider sitting behind him.

This is logged for the future lawsuit?

The contraflow lanes on Gilmour are, to put it mildly, interesting. Without the plastic sticks, they depend on a strip of paint to keep cyclists and cars apart, going in opposite directions. App, staff said the only reason there’s no curb is budget and admitted it’s not safe but 🤷‍♂️

Pat is doing the hard work that needs to be done for us to make the right decisions in this city. Great job Pat!

Over at @strongtownsottawa.ca we've calculated the productivity of different development patterns in #OttCity. Tax per hectare is easy.

Lately, I've been estimating the cost of servicing. These numbers are much more abstract but it's been fun.

Here is some data I'm tracking.

I suspect some of the in camera meetings of council have been discussions about the tunnel liner. Remember in 2023 we got a public report about it and its installation.

PS

In the 'giving yourself time to think' thing, I find that doing a thing which doesn't allow for a lot of other distractions allowing you to lose yourself in your thoughts is key.

A lot of good thinking gets done on the shower and the shitter.

is you need down time to think, usually while doing another thing that doesn't require thought.

When I struggled with something writing-wise I take a walk. And 100% of the time I end up figuring out the solution. I would never, ever, ever, ask a machine to do that for me. Wtf.

The Hate and Bias Crime Unit is investigating an assault on a woman wearing a hijab. A man shouted hate slurs at her at a gas station on Ave yesterday morning. The investigation is ongoing.

We take these matters seriously.

If you have info, call 613-236-1222, ext. 5015.

This is the LRT Kanata needs.

Hear me out. Autonomous vehicles on a closed track. Small not quite personal vehicles for short cross neighbourhood trips. (Yes, express trips to the downtown core would be part of the complete transit system.)

I'm writing up an extensive case study of Bologna's transit priority policies, and when I write down the numbers of the 1984 referendum on a car-lite city center, I don't know if I'm more amazed by the turnout (90%?!?) or the % of yes (almost 70%)

It's just a world that no longer exists...

Why *wouldn't* the funding formula change when less stuff needs to be funded?

This government now, down the road or a later government is going to question why a train benefitting only 1 municipality is a provincial cost.

What percentage of the athletic use of Lansdowne is for ticketed / free community athletic events? I suspect even the baseball stadium has more community use. #OttPoli
