Major scandal in Ohio!

Hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars sent to a for-profit organization that claimed to be helping Ohio kids, but later, turns out they couldn’t account for a bunch of the kids they claimed and were paid for.

“Ghost” students, they were called.

I still don't understand why a consortium of university libraries doesn't give a few million bucks to a few university presses to publish journals at cost, and then unsubscribe from the for-profit ones. It would save them money even in the short term, and ... (1/2)
Academics (including the journal’s founder) told Wiley to pound sand, started an open access journal, and Wiley just surrendered. I think more academics should tell academic publishers to pound sand. They are vampires.
Wiley officially closes the Journal of Political Philosophy, which was abandoned by its editorial team and shunned by academics after Wiley attempted moves that would have compromised the journal's editorial independence.

Tomorrow is it: the #GoodTroubleLivesOn National Day of Action.

John Lewis told us:

"Never be afraid to get in good trouble, necessary trouble."

It's necessary now, if we're going to save our country.

About that record-high share of Americans saying immigration is good for the country: The surge is primarily driven by *Republicans* changing their tune. Rs have become much more positive on immigration than they had been before Trump took office.

“We stay in the fight, not because we’re guaranteed to win it, but because it’s the right fight."
After 26 hours of fighting on the Senate floor, Republicans voted to rip health care from millions of people and let little babies go hungry. And they cheered.

I'm angry. You should be too. But this fight isn't over.
