Rune poems all come from later traditions than the most famous runes, the Elder Futhark, which were first used more than 2,000 years ago. In this video, I speculatively construct a rune poem in that time’s language—what English or Norwegian would have sounded like B.C. youtu.be/GSmD-5GdFWc

Tangentially relatated, I remember being around thirteen and seeing the Golden Globes "Musical or Comedy" category and thinking, "well that's not a serious award."
I find it very funny that some people actually get upset about awards season "category error" nominations. I'm trying really hard to think of something that matters less, and I'm coming up empty.

I have never seen Midnight Cowboy but I picked up a vintage paperback copy of the novel at my local used bookshop. Anyone have any recommendations on which one to start with?

A critic, calling me out as a lefty propagandist, said I’d tried to prejudice readers against a businessman character by drawing him so fat and ugly that people would hate him. I had used myself as the model for the character, accurately copying photos that I’d posed for.
What's an insult you'll never forget?

11 years ago, I finished the 1st Ed. of my translation of the Poetic Edda, meant to make the original stories of the Norse gods and heroes available in today's English. Now the revised, expanded 2nd Ed. is out. A long way to go to the 5000+ 5-star ratings for the 1st, but reader response seems good.

Did you know Stephen King is releasing a novel he co-wrote via newspaper? I did not know this, but just rectified my error by ordering it.

In "fairness" some people reportedly find lots of AI stuff extremely "profound" - and I even believe some of them. It's just that then they show you the "profound" AI Work in question and wind up telling you much more about themselves than about the technology, none of it good.
