i don't see anything to learn from it except that my improvement this season was vast, and i can keep going. also, i fucking hate losing, but i missed the feeling of how much i hated losing.

lost in the R16 of my tennis tournament. played unbelievably bad. just hit some nerves early on and even though my mindset was right, i couldn't get my body to reset. things would sometimes go right, but everything was just so off.

I am sure I have not always gotten it right. But I try damn hard not to run photos that might make my audience think things are tangibly different than they actually are. Hope CNN will change the photo with the article and offer an editor's note marking the correction.

I make these judgement calls all the time:

- The best James Dobson photo is from 2002, can we run that with his obit?
- The photo is from the same protest, but features people who aren't in the story, is that confusing?
- Is this image of LA fires is close enough to the neighborhoods we report on?

I think the logic for the photo is that it's a time the National Guard was called into a city, but given that it's a 30+yr old photo, not in the same city, and not obviously archival (unless you know Winchell's closed their Portland locations), I find this irresponsible.
