Here for:
Books, Art, Folklore, History, Tolkien, and nice people.
This recluse went out for pleasure today 😊
A walk...

Followed part of the route in Nightjar.

Across the railway bridge.
New graffiti.
Found old friends fallen.
Windbreaks,
And fires,
Offerings to Bavarian Gods;
Fore returning to old roads cut.
And home.

Tomorrow’s brand new episode of Weird in the Wade explores the secrets of Pegnut wood. I’m joined briefly by @modquokka.bsky.social as I explore the woodland’s past. Expect execution paths, Victorian fake news, sewage, and another big cat sighting. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

My research into Nanny Morgan has been one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done. Ann Morgan's story highlights the importance of honouring historical legacies in folkloric narratives. She deserves to be remembered.

Today is the day I learned of #BookSky

Are there other hashtags around folklore, history, books, art, and film that have adopted a 'Sky' (or similar) suffix that I should be aware of?

Time for #AnIndieADay when I share an indie book that I love every day for a month!

Today it's Nightjar by @modquokka.bsky.social

Its poetic style calls to mind a storyteller of old weaving a thrilling tale for their wide-eyed listeners gathered around a campfire in ancient times.

Today at work,
As cleaners...

Why do people (other staff) throw liquids in the bin; as in soup, hot chocolate, coffee, coke?

Worse.

They threw it in a bin without a bin bag, even though the extra bin bags (to use) are in the bottom of the bin.

And the sink...
Next to the bin 😶
