There are a lot of people on Instagram saying they don’t agree with EES fingerprinting/face scanning and plan to “opt-out“ when they get to an EU border as “they can‘I make you”

Worth noting at the same time during the Canadian election cycle a few years ago the overwhelming consensus was that Justin Trudeau would go down to brutal defeat at the hands of Pierre Poilievre in the summer of 2025

“It’s far too soon to predict how the next election will shape up. We are roughly the same distance from Labour having to call a General Election, as we are from the last pandemic lockdown. Try to conceive of that amount of stuff still to happen.”

Tim Stanley was calling her “mummy” in his DT article yesterday. A very weird individual.

What Governor Pritzker is doing is right for his state, but it is vital for the Republic.

Seeming some of the ‘good speech’ takes from commentators re Badenoch, really brings home how public speaking has gone backwards since the late 90s. Speech writing and delivery of all main parties comes across as if there was too much copy and paste. The delivery is leaden.

Badenoch is flunking in part because she wants to speak as if her party has been out of power more often than not in recent years, which was true of Thatcher in 1975 and is comically untrue of Badenoch in 2025.

There's a touch of the Liz Truss about Kemi Badenoch. Both in the tax cut paid for by fantasy figures and also a belief there's This One Special Trick The British State Doesn't Want You To Know About! that will somehow solve everything.
Be rude to some civil servants and the UK's problems vanish!

Pritzker: "It's unconscionable. This has never happened before. They're calling out troops onto the streets of a state that doesn't want them and they're not even telling us where they're gonna go, what they're gonna do. This hasn't happened I don't think since the Civil War."

Sorry, but if you're saying those implausible and shallow Kemi Badenoch announcements constitute a good speech then you're part of the UK's political problem.

Same half-baked "tax cut good / international commitments bad" bearing no resemblance to well formed policy.

Notice that Badenoch said stamp duty would not be paid “on your home”, does this mean it will only be on sale of main residence?

This lurid headline is about British tourists no longer getting away with overstaying in Schengen. Or being 'illegals', as it's often called in the UK.

There should be a word for a huge but pointless event, such as a leader making announcements in a conference speech that will never be implemented and which not even the faithful will pay any attention to because the leader will be gone in a matter of months.
