The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

This is my problem with JJ Abrams.
I'm always confused when writers change the plot because a reader figured out what was coming. Surely that's good? Surely that means the breadcrumbs have been laid out appropriately?

Currently, it would allow me to take the mental health leave I need without having to worry about my ability to stay employed and therefore continue to be insured.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

There is no route out of fascism that involves sacrificing the vulnerable. All that does is tell the fascists that we're willing to turn on each other for the illusion of safety.
A lot of political influencers within the Atlantic/NYT orbit are very, very eager to sell us on the lie that we can get out of fascism by sacrificing trans people.

Doomerism and despair got me this afternoon. This was a helpful thread.
It means that we can know both that we've "tipped over an invisible edge into an authoritarian state" & also know that we needn't tip over into despair.
I don't believe despair is a luxury; despair is an emotion that hits whether we want it to or not.
But we ALREADY KNOW how to not stay there.
