I know universal right to counsel isn't a sexy issue. I know people think it's a giveaway to lawyers (it's not; public defense and legal aid lawyers aren't rich). I know it's not glamorous. But you can't enforce any of the glamorous laws you pass without it. It's a prerequisite to everything else.
