Yep, it's the same old "bash a beneficiary" or "lazy youf" rhetoric to gain a couple of votes.

Lazy Luxon chasing 4000 kids to save approx $1.3M year but won't chase Destiny church charitable trust or Gloriavale, with charities estimated to be avoiding $2.0B year in tax avoidance.

The hypocrisy as an expression of power is a thing, so the contradictions don't actually matter, but if David Seymour really wants to commemorate people killed for free speech in parliament, there have been over 270 journalists killed in Gaza. But I understand David Seymour might object to that.

JKR just called Charlie Kirk a Totalitarian. Surprising!

His quote:

“Directly confronting the left, and promising to fight their illiberal ideology with state power when necessary, is the key to winning everyday Americans.
jkr screenshot of X post.

If you believe free speech is for you but not your political opponents, you're illiberal.

If no contrary evidence could change your beliefs, you're a fundamentalist.

If you believe the state should punish those with contrary views, you're a totalitarian.

If you believe political opponents should be punished with violence or death, you're a terrorist.

How much income would it take from the richest 10% of people in the world to match that of the poorest 10%?

As the chart shows, it takes less than 2 cents out of every dollar. That's less than *one-fiftieth* of their income, or one week of income in a year.

When we see things like this, there's reason to be concerned that some madly grinning clown is coming to kill you. But, and however, as with many ACT announcements there's probably lots less to this than meets the eye (remember his whole "unapproved medicine advertising is now legal!" lie?)

I mean, if you can't stay in this lane, perhaps you shouldn't be driving. Also, it's good if you have to slow down slightly. That's a feature, not a bug, and it actually makes *everyone* safer.

Legitimate question: is the 10% inflation of dairy and egg prices translating into greater profitability for farmers? Is the agriculture sector seeing growth that bucks the trend of the wider economy's performance?

These bilingual signs are so confusing. Nobody knows what these words mean. It makes me - an otherwise mild mannered average kiwi guy - furious.

It doesn't help that this very, very important message is also in direct contrast to 3 decades of road safety propaganda that amounts to "there are only 2 road rules: don't exceed the posted speed limit and remove your brain when driving"

The message “Driving is a really complex task… and people don’t think of it as risky anymore” is a very, very important message, but it's being shouted down in this article by a singular focus on young drivers. www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3607...

Sorry, can you please explain this like I'm five...
- A bill gets proposed
- Experts speak out against it
- The bill proposer gets angry & personally targets them online
- A city Mayor calls it out as dangerous and unprofessional
- "Free Speech Union" plays the victim card on the proposers behalf?
