What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Holding FFWD down on an Alba "Walkman" clone for exactly long enough to get to the tune you really want to listen to.

And for @williamnb.bsky.social , you're only ever at most 2 weeks away from a potential social revolution 💥
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

Honestly I think you'd be surprised how every so often an odd skill resurfaces (possibly/hopefully with the exception of @williamnb.bsky.social's shaped charges)

Least likely - stripping a 2 stroke outboard carburettor.
What skill did you master that you will never, ever use again?

In my case, using plastic explosives to make shaped charges, to direct a blast in a certain direction.

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

The exact people now saying "Nigel Farage was young and foolish at school" (to excuse his racism, bullying and harassment of fellow pupils at Dulwich College) are the same people who said "Shamima Begum was old enough to know what she was doing".

Once all the hubris dies down I think it'll be quite fun to build LLMs of our own.
I'd quite like to have one on my bike that I can chat to on long rides a bit like KITT.

If you told me in 1995 that you could walk into a high street supermarket in 2025 and buy 32 GB of storage for under £10 I would have called for the men in green coats to come and take you away.

Farage hopes he can breeze into power without scrutiny. But his racism, corrupt donations, shady links to Russia and MAGA… make it harder for him to hide. And his tantrum reactions to being challenged reveal him for the nasty inadequate he really is.

The super-rich rightwing are pouring money into Reform. Do ordinary voters really think their aim is to even out social inequality and make their lives better? Do they think they’re doing it so Farage invests in infrastructure and public services? Ffs. Democracy being beaten to death in plain sight.

There are now twice as many bikes as cars on City of London streets during the day, and people cycling make up 56% of all road users during peak commuting hours. Motor traffic is down 5% since the last count, which continues its downward trend having fallen by a quarter in the five years since 2019.
