I'm that mom from Texas suing Gov Abbott to #ProtectTransKids 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

As I'm new to bluesky, I thought I'd post a few links to introduce myself and my family. A thread (is that what they're called on this app?):
Kristi Noem: “I don’t feel safe in my own home.”

Also Kristi Noem: Made South Dakota so unsafe and unlivable for trans kids that they had to literally flee.

Anyway, thoughts and prayers, Governor. Sending you the exact amount of empathy you gave them: zero. 🫶

Pretty rich for Paxton to spend years writing + defending policies meant to define trans inclusive families as "sinful" while his own family falls apart for "biblical reasons", then ask for "privacy" when he's repeatedly sought access to trans kids' medical files.

Thoughts and prayers, buddy.

PS- As if I'm not salty and petty enough, here is a playlist I created a while back to celebrate the absolute karmaaaaaa he keeps getting into.

Enjoy the schadenfreude, babes. Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum.

In 2016, Ken Paxton had the audacity to sit at my table and break bread with my family knowing full well that my son is trans, then SIX YEARS LATER wrote an opinion stating that families like mine shouldn't exist. Within days, a CPS investigator was in our home threatening to remove our children.🧵

Perfection
While the gospels say that Judas led the Romans to Jesus, a new theory is gaining traction with some Biblical scholars. There is evidence, some say, that Judas merely shared Christ's location on an insecure group chat that accidentally included several Roman officials and journalists.

This deportation was planned as a political spectacle. The deportees were carefully chosen, as was the language used to describe them.

Absolutely illegal!

EVERY House member should say this!
14 House Dems Demanded Mahmoud Khalil’s Release. Where Are the Others?
All members of Congress swore oaths to defend the right to speak freely and assemble to petition for the redress of grievances. Why did so few of them sign this important letter?

This podcast episode left out facts about inclusion in sports. The truth is, young people learn many life lessons playing sports: leadership, confidence, self-respect, and the value of teamwork. No one should be denied the opportunity to play sports just because of who they are.

As the EOs and orders keep coming, I keep thinking of the exhibit in the Berlin Jewish Museum that displays the 962 anti-Jewish laws and policies in order as they came down. These kinds of drumbeats are designed not just to oppress but to normalize oppression. www.jmberlin.de/en/jmb-journ...

Axios [Jan 31] -- Federal websites tracking health care information on HIV prevention and transgender care went dark this afternoon. Also gone was information on contraception and gender-based violence.

This is grossly irresponsible reporting by the AP. What’s being offered is not a buyout. The deal is if you agree to resign in September you can continue working remotely until then. There is no buyout or severance.

1. Yesterday, Trump released a broad anti-trans executive order that could have extreme impacts on transgender people's lives if implemented.

There has been much discussion of what it actually does.

A Line By Line Analysis Of Trump's Big Anti-Trans Executive Order
Trump released over 70 executive orders on Monday. While orders on immigration and climate got a lot of attention, his anti-transgender order could have sweeping impacts as well.

I'm seeing a few reports of this, but I can't confirm this is widespread. I have been told a separate passport office is no longer processing changes, but new apps will go by your BC and renewals by your current info.

There's a lot of confusion out there on passports and no real answer yet.

Incredibly grateful for the work that @glaad.bsky.social does. This might be a baby step in the bigger march towards lasting change, but it is forward progress nevertheless and they should be proud.
🧵 You may remember Pamela Paul for her “In defense of JK Rowling” essay, a piece supporting dangerous anti-transgender rhetoric, published one day after a coalition of 100+ orgs and leaders publicly called out @nytimes.com's pattern of inaccurate, biased coverage of trans people.
